Biggie Smalls vs. Thomas the Tank Engine
PREVIEW: STREAM Biggie Smalls vs. Thomas the Tank Engine
When I first came across this mashup, I was almost appalled. We’ve seen Barney rap to Tupac, but Barney was already a bit of a shady character, so his perversion was somewhat expected. But Biggie Smalls and Thomas the Tank Engine shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence. It’s robbing a harmless storybook character of its innocence. It’s sacrilegious. It’s effing awesome.
This Biggie Smalls mashup with Thomas the Tank Engine upholds the notion that all you really need is a solid rhyme and a sick beat and you’ve got a good song — no matter its derivation, which in this case, just happens to be instrumentals from “Thomas & Friends” and lyrics from Biggie’s “Come On.” Once you get over the shocking combination of rhymes like, “Now we smoke weed like Tony Montana sniff the yayo” corrupting such a playful jingle, you’ll be addicted. This one video may have led me to an underground cartoon/rapper fetish I wish I’d never heard of, but let me assure you, it’s better than Thomas the Tank Engine vs. Snoop Dogg, Mario vs. Busta Rhymes and even Eminem vs. Bob the Builder.
