For those who frequent the Nine Inch Nails’ blog run by the band’s head honcho, Trent Reznor, you noticed the sad news announced the other day. NIN has decided to call it quits for at least a little while, and Reznor plans to have a farewell tour with none other than Jane’s Addiction. If this comes true, it will be the first time the two bands have toured together since the first Lollapalooza in 1991.
Although this may seem shocking, Reznor has often expressed dissatisfaction with the music industry and what it’s become. NIN released two critically acclaimed albums last year, Ghosts I-IV and The Slip. This hiatus also coincides with the 20 year anniversary of NIN’s first album, Pretty Hate Machine.
If you have never seen NIN or Jane’s Addiction then this may be the last opportunity to watch them perform for some time. From the several times I’ve seen NIN, they never disappoint because they mend music and production beautifully. Finally, in honor of Pretty Hate Machine‘s anniversary, here is a video of a great song off the album.
