I’m in love with Olga Bell, a keyboard-playing, laptop-wielding and sample-mixing piano instructor from Brooklyn. Joined by a three-piece band, Olga forms “Bell,” which was was featured as one of Stereogum‘s “Band to Watch” back in March 2008. I’ve been following her since. She just added a new song to her myspace page entitled “Magic Tape,” but if this is your first introduction to her, I highly recommend you listen to “Echinacea” and the heartbreaking “Brown Bear” if you can find them around. You can also check out her cover of Bjork’s “It’s Oh So Quiet” and Radiohead’s “Videotape” which transitions into Thom Yorke’s “The Eraser.” It’s pretty amazing.
Bell is currently touring with Asobi Seksu, and her 7″ of “Magic Tape” b/w “Housefire 2.0” comes out March 24th, 2009. Can’t wait to for a full-length album!
