MTV.com is streaming the new Silversun Pickups album, “Swoon.”

Silversun Pickups is playing on the third day of the All Points West Festival in Liberty Park, NJ this summer, and it’s been a while since “Lazy Eye” put them on the map in 2006. “Swoon” is set to release next week on April 14th.

It’s not great a follow-up album, to be honest. The sound is too mellow and not as jazzy as the first one. I love “Lazy Eye” because it used simple chords with a great, crashing hook. “Swoon” doesn’t have the same energy.

Maybe a better way to describe it is that it sounds too much like the 90s grunge movement, like in “It’s Nice to Know You Know You Work Alone.” It sounds like a bad OzzFest band. That’s what you get for not using a synthesizer.
