placebo-wwwszigetnewscomSay what you want about Placebo, but in the right setting, their emo-heavy metal sound can be heart-pounding at times.

Their last album, Meds, had some decent hits like “Drag” and “Space Monkey,” but I won’t deny their sexuality may seem questionable, at best, sometimes. They remind a little bit of Orgy and their song “Stitches.” Remember those guys?

Not gonna lie. I used to be into the glam metal/goth metal scene when I was in middle school. Hey, we all had our phases, so maybe that’s why I don’t think Placebo is that bad.

Anyway, the point is that Placebo has a new album coming out on June 8th, and they’re already allowing a free download of their title track “Battle for the Sun.”

Give it a listen. Don’t worry, you won’t end up shopping at Hot Topic afterward, I promise. “Battle for the Sun” is less contrived than their other works, and has a less glossy sound. It’s a decent step toward alternative rock for Placebo.

i don’t know who you’ve been talking to, but they evidently belong to a group of people who are either misinformed about this band or are simply lacking in musical taste. Placebo has no legitimate connection with metal, emo, “goth-metal,” or Hot Topic. They do have a large and intensely devoted fan base who generally seem to agree upon the excellence of their previously released studio works. But, to each his own.
