mewithoutYou make some beautiful music that might not be for everyone.

By standing out from the crowd mewithoutYou have built a faithful fan base.

MewithoutYou might be the weirdest band on the planet. Sometimes they scream and sometimes they whisper. Their lyrics are like poetry and they’ve been thrown into many different genres including alternative, post-hardcore, indie, folk, experimental rock and their myspace page simply says “other.” They’re songs personify many different animals (including spiders, beetles, a fox, a crow and many others), and their inspiration comes from the Bible, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen, the poet Rumi and the very active imagination of lead singer Aaron Weiss.

Not only is their music strange, the way they live their lives is unusual as well. The band tours in a bus that runs on vegetable oil. During tour stops they’ve been known to help the homeless by making sandwiches in their bus, and when mewithoutYou was on tour with Brand New in 2007 Aaron Weiss fed himself by picking up the scraps that other people were going to throw away.

Seeing mewithoutYou perform is an experience like no other. These guys perform with an energy that is indescribable. I’ve never seen a frontman go through so many emotions while performing. At times Aaron can put on a serious scowl and then moments later look like the most joyous person alive. This energy extends into the crowd and makes for a show that truly captivates audiences.

MewithoutYou might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you can handle their quirks, and maintain an open mind, you just might find yourself a new favorite band.
