Sigur Ros' Takk... is #19 on 20 Watts' Best of the Decade List

Part of 20 Watts’ Best of the Decade Coverage!

RELEASED: 2005
TOP TRACK: “Glósóli”

Known for their otherworldly and dreamlike timbre, Sigur Rós have established themselves among some of the most progressive musicians of the past ten years. And on their fourth full-length, the Icelandic troupe further develop their ambient genre even further with attention-grabbing tracks like “Hoppípolla” and “Glósóli.” The band uses musical synthesis to create a landscape or atmosphere, rather than lyrical descriptions. The instrumentation is more organic, though, as opposed to electronic, creating a less abrasive and more moving sound. With Takk..., Sigur Rós brought forth something truly original, truly poetic – they created something inimitable.
