moby-remix-contestJust posted on Pitchfork and Stereogum is Moby’s new video for “Shot in the back of the head.”

I’d post the video directly, but WordPress is dick like that.

The song itself is iffy at first. It cuts in and out of an interesting warped guitar riff that’s broken up by quick breaks of silence. Those breaks are really annoying, and then slowly the song picks up faster, and then by the chorus, the whole song strings together beautifully. During the chorus, there’s a wah-wah guitar riff that sounds a lot like an old Moby song I can’t put my finger on. Listen to it and you tell me. I might just be crazy.

God, where has Moby been? This guy has seen a lot and played forever. My favorite Moby track has to be from the “Heat” soundtrack, which plays at the very end right before the credits roll. It’s when Al Pacino is holding Robert De Niro’s hand as he slowly dies. Great song.
